  • Pet Names

While I consider myself a very romantic person, I've never been much of one for pet names. Most of the time, they just sound unnatural to me - baby, pookie, honeybear... *gags* The only ones that tend to sound natural to me are maybe sweetheart or hon. But I guess terms of endearment don't have to be pet names. My ex often called me "you" - ie "goodnight you" or "hey you" (but in a very sweet, loving way... Not like when you yell "hey you!" to some stranger on the street or something). I really liked that. It wasn’t cheesy like so many nicknames seem to me and it was sweet how he made the word "you" have so much meaning. It really sounded like he cared about me when he said it. I also like when people call me by some variation of my name (ie "Em") or by a nickname that comes out of an inside joke (ie I went on a few dates with one guy who sometimes called me "professor" based on an inside joke and I called him "weatherman").

What are your favorite pet names or terms of endearment?

This is gonna sound weird but my pet name for my boyfriend is "monkeybutt" & his pet name for me is "dingleberry" yet I love it. It's not typical & it's something just the two of us understand. & the two names just belong together, sorta like us. :)
