Valentine's day has never really bothered me. Sure, if I'm single on V-day, it can get annoying to see all the girls carrying flowers and chocolates. But really, I don't care much.
It's the winter holidays - Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's - that give me the "single blues." Everything is so romantic and all the commercials on TV show pictures of happy couples buying each other "meaningful" gifts. I want someone to go ice skating with in Central Park! Or to curl up with under a blanket with hot cocoa and a movie. I want someone to kiss at midnight on New Year's (and it's hard for me not to think about how perfect New Year's was last year when I went to an amazing concert and had a boyfriend to kiss at midnight).
These are the times that it gets a little tough. So, single people out there, stay strong. I know it's hard, but we'll get through it. Cuddle up with your friends, surround yourself with the people in your life who love you (even if it's not in the same romantic way) and treat yourself well this holiday season. Pamper yourself. That's my advice to get you through the holiday blues.

I agree. The winter holidays are the worst. At least Valentine's Day is only 1 day. The holidays seem to go on and on.
Oh my gosh. I am so in the same boat. I went on a trip to Arkansas with my family over Thanksgiving - it was my mom and step-dad, my step-bro and his girlfriend, and me. When we stopped at a restaurant for lunch, the boys ordered for their girlfriends and... I ordered for myself and Casper. Literally. I told the waitress "My boyfriend and I will be sharing..." while gesturing at an empty chair. Sigh.
